Meet the New Hosts of Training Talk: Deryck Poole and Barret Kendrick

A new era of Training Talk launches this week at Personal Defense Network, co-hosted by Deryck Poole and Barret Kendrick. Almost exactly three years ago, PDN launched our twice monthly live discussion show covering all aspects of personal defense and safety training and preparation. Long time PDN Contributor, Instructor and Author Grant Cunningham hosted the show through the end of 2018, providing a wealth of information and insight with the help of guests from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences.

While you can expect “more of the same” from the new co-hosts (both long time PDN Contributors who are familiar to our Members) you can also expect a more dynamic and interactive approach, a new gear segment in each episode and a fresh look at some of the topics already explored in the early years of Training Talk.

Deryck Poole is the owner of Echo-5 Training and has been shooting his entire life. In fact, Deryck still owns the rifle he was taught to shoot with at eight years old. He has 17+ years of experience as an instructor and conducted training for both combat and non-combat personnel while serving as a rifleman and range safety NCO in the Marines.

Barret Kendrick is the founder of Bearco Training. Bearco Training specializes in providing practical defensive skills for everyday people. As a full-time instructor, he has dedicated himself and his company to provide realistic defensive training to responsible armed citizens, law enforcement, members of our armed forces. Throughout his region and nationally, he works with hundreds of students annually in defensive shooting and force-on-force training.

I have worked with both Barret and Deryck for many years, developing and teaching defensive shooting programs all around the country. They are two of the finest educators in our community and I trust that the quality of the information they’ll be providing through Training Talk will meet the needs of audience. I am looking forward to watching the premiere episode myself this week and I’m especially anxious to hear what YOU think after watching it… and we are always interested in topic suggestions for upcoming shows as well!

The first one hour long Training Talk show broadcasts live on the PDN Website on March 7, 6:00 PM Pacific Time, and will resume on the first and third Thursday of every month. It is one of several regular Live Events form PDN, including my own monthly PDN LIVE Q&A and our Interactive Distance Education Sessions for Platinum Members.
