Took a civilian concealed carry class and a participant shot himself in the leg. Moved to the Houston area and the first year living there two area law enforcement officers were shot and killed on ranges.

As a Sr Training Counselor with the NRA , I can tell you that you do not have to be an Instructor to take the Range Safety Officer course.
