However, I am one of the thousands of us that do have a CCW permit. My EDC: Glock 30, Kershaw folding knife and a small tactical flashlight. And I try to stay out of dark places.

Sometimes I also carry my G23 with a spare mag. I have a Hoffman Richter folding knife, a S&W tactical pen, and a small keychain light. The small keychain light recently broke, so I have ordered a new Maglite LED keychain light. I live in the south, carry concealed, my Glock is with me 24/7/365.

When I lived in LA I used to also carry an extendable baton ( (which is also illegal in Hawaii) a strong flashlight is a good option

When I see people headed toward me, who are focused on me, I throw my arm up with palm out, and order them to stop right there and do not come closer. 99 out of a hundred will stop in fear and confusion.
