Shooting Handguns with Liberty Ammunition Civil Defense Rounds for Reliability Testing

This ultra lightweight +P 9mm round has previously been tested for performance, so the next step is to make sure it’s reliable in typical defensive firearms. A midsize – a Glock 23 that’s been converted to 9mm – and a subcompact – a Kahr Arms P9 – are the proven firearms employed to test the Civil Defense round. Shooting handguns that are commonly used in defensive encounters helps ensure us that the hundreds of rounds sent downrange result in a comprehensive test, with reliable findings, to assess the quality of the Civil Defense Rounds provided by Liberty Ammunition.

I need to try this with my Glock and my Smith & Wesson M&P. A hundred rounds should tell me something.

Nice shooting! Would it be possible film from the firing side so that we can watch your loading and malfunction clearing better?

Interesting, with the extraction issue and "non" primer strikes and other failure to feed issues I would be more inclined to think it could be a gun issue over an ammo issue. Considering Mr. Pincus made modification to his 23, coupled with the fact he was manually stripping the mags from it, along with the admission it was an "old" gun, it might be time for springs and mags to be replaced. With the Kahr, if it has a feeding issue such as that, I would send it back to the factory, as holding the slide stop down to load the weapon is not conducive to a healthy situation, especially in a high stress situation.

I will try that ammo however, if I get one malfunction with my Ed Brown, I'll never use it for my carry.

Very interesting. Would like to see a test run on some 1911 platforms. My EDC is a Kimber Ultra CDP in .45. I've never had a malfunction with it no matter what the fodder, but 200 rounds of Liberty would make for an expensive day at the range. Would also like to see what 10 MM will do.

boy very interesting. i figure 200 rounds of reliability for assurances but if i had one problem especially in a glock i would be hesitant to use it. all my glocks bought in the early 90's have been totally reliable. after watching the ballistic test i was ready to get some, now with limited funds i am not sure. my kahr 40 had problem feeding, i bought it used and i polished the camber which solved the problem. it is a very accurate gun for being so small. the bullet looks to be more conical then rounded and i was wondering if that could cause of a feeding problem. of course the equal rearward force could be the problem. maybe figuring out the difference in force, mass times velocity, might help explain it. i would love to try the round now i am not so sure. of course i am still a 40 fan, but we all have our faults. i do have a lot of 9s i just do not carry them, and my 23's and '19 are just a little big for me, but things change the ammunition sure has since i was once young. i love all the calibers. even the 454 they all have their purpose. i would love to get the big 50 s&w, but it would be a special purpose gun, maybe alaska. just dreaming, but who knows.
