Rob, 5 XDS spring field (9mm or .45) If I spelled that right… How much is one? Is it better than the NF guns? Smooth spot on shooting.

Michelle, I’m not sure what you are asking. “NF guns” ? I carry an XD-S 9mm and you can expect to pay between $400 & $500 dollars for one.

I own a 150# full size and a 65# pistol type crossbow. Can I legally use them for home defense?

The circumstances dictate appropriateness and legally, not the tool you chose to use.

Do you think SHOT Show provided you a good platform to launch your new firearm the Avidity Arms PD-10? The IFAC from Safer Faster Defense is awesome and fits great on even a womans small ankle. What other gear should we keep an eye out for?

SHOT is a MUST for any new gun company and it was great to have so many people get to put hands on the PD10 even before we are ready to ship a production gun. So, I think it was awesome. I also expect that NRA and other shows over the next year as we begin to ship production guns will be great.

Were you surprised no new releases from Glock? Specifically that elusive Gen5? They seem to be still focused on the MOS. Thoughts on it?

I think they really blew it with the Gen 4 release… and they know it.
Springfield did a great Upgrade to an existing platform with the XD Mod 2 and it looks like S&W did the same with the ergonomic improvements to the M&P.
Glock really needs to get the next one right. When you look around the industry at the leaps that some companies (S&W, Springfield, Ruger, Remington, FN, Walther) have made over the last 10-15years, I think it is fair to say that the Polymer Gap has been more than closed. Glocks 1-3 were great guns, I hope 5 is too and I’m willing to wait.

See my answer above… I don’t think the show in general ever will (or should) be open to the public, it would defeat the purpose of the event. I don’t think it would be a horrible idea to have it open to the public for one day.

As I said in the show, I don’t know if it would ever happen, but making the FIRST Day of the show open to the public as a General Admission Only event would definitely shake it up. Then having 3 days for the Industry to do our thing.

I haven’t seen them show up at the show in a long time. They have great ranges and solid instructors teaching a very controlled and very dated curriculum. I don’t recommend them for more than recreational shooting.

As a DFC Instructor I look forward to sharing with my students and fellow instructors and mentors what I learned about what could or may be beneficial to us all. I’m interested in learning more from my peers. Team blogging and media or team teaching. Thank you Rob and Berrett for inspiration to work on being awesome :)

At the media range event, are all the media people allowed to handle and shoot the guns that are there? Or are industry reps doing the shooting?

We did get off to a relatively slow start on actually covering products… fair chance though that a lot of people don’t REALLY know what SHOT is and benefitted from the early convo as well as the details on products that we eventually got around to.

What was the coolest thing you saw at Shot? Was it the drone that drops tear gas cannisters?

I recommend people look at fundamentals from JiuJitsu and Muy Thai as a base for unarmed self defense.

Federal HST, Speer Gold dot, Winchester defend, hornady critical defense, & Barnes TAC XP is a great non-lead round that is a really great round for self defense.

I went into SHOT excited to get hands on the FACT units from Viridian and to see the new Tables from Tactical Walls in action. I was curious about the Hudson Hype and was glad I got to hold it, shoot and meet the company owners (They were cool and I wish them success). I was really surprised by how impressed I was by the Suppressed Pistol from SilencerCo.
