Winchester Defense 147-grain JHP Gel Test

PDN has tested numerous Winchester Ammunition rounds – here’s one we haven’t done yet. Rob Pincus has a Winchester Defense 147-grain Jacketed Hollow Point (JHP) round. Rob considers this the evolved basic Winchester round. He fires two rounds into the gel, because he wants to test one of the selling points of the design of modern hollow-point rounds: consistency.

In addition, Rob always looks for 12 to 15 inches of penetration, because this means the round will not exit the body it’s being shot into and therefore will release all its energy into the threat. How did this Winchester Defense round perform in terms of consistency and penetration?
