Elite Bulletproof Backpack Vest

Rob Pincus
Duration:   4  mins

The Elite Bulletproof Backpack Vest from Bodyguard Concealed Armor Systems includes two 10x12-inch armor plates. Rob Pincus believes this backpack is ideal for executive protection details and undercover law enforcement, where it’s necessary to blend in but the body armor may have to be deployed quickly. How does that work? The backpack contains two armor plates – pull two straps at the top and one plate comes out, goes over the head, and you’ve got a secure front panel.

Depending on what type of protection you need, you can choose from three different types of armor plates. Rob also discusses what other gear he would keep in this backpack. With the right items inside, this would make a great go-bag for a worst-case scenario.

This is the elite bulletproof backpack vest from Bodyguard concealment. Now, normally, if you're really getting ready to deploy a backpack like this, you'd want to make sure that the cumber bund or mid-body strap was engaged. If you wanna have it more casually, you'd have this open. I'm carrying inside the waistband EDC like I normally would be, but I probably wouldn't normally be wearing this backpack with concealed body armor. So let's think about what's the context of use for this.

Well, if I were working, uh, maybe a medium profile, a high threat executive protection situation. Um, if I were in an undercover law enforcement situation where I was able to blend in with this backpack, but not with full body armor and kit, and I thought I might need to deploy it if I was some kind of a quick reaction maybe hang hanging out nearby for an undercover operation or an interview or something that was going on. Um, this isn't a raid vest, this isn't a duty gear kind of external vest. This isn't SWAT material, things like that. Again, it's meant to be relatively low profile.

I'm wearing it with a high contrasting color shirt so you can see what's going on with the backpack. And if you haven't already guessed what's about to happen, I can deploy a front armor plate. So right now I've got 2 armor plates in the backpack. That's what these straps are for. They probably show up really clearly here in a sterile environment in the studio again against a very high contrast color shirt.

I'm wearing a black light coat or jacket or anything black, dark, this probably wouldn't show up quite as much, but it's gonna be very easy to find. There's a Velcro attachment here. I reach up, I grab, I pull up. As I pull up, I come over my head and then I can take those same straps and take that hook and loop fastener and apply it to the side of the cumber button straps. This is now a secure panel.

You can see I've got extra ammo here for my concealed everyday carry or in some cases it might be a duty firearm. I could obviously put medical on here. I could put multiple magazines. Maybe I even have a long gun. Let's talk about how we set this up in a second.

Right now what I want you to see is that I've got pretty. Good coverage on this front panel and of course you could put hard plates, you could put anything you want inside of this pouch, and you can see I've got good coverage from the rear as well. But what else do I have in this backpack because it's not good enough if the only thing you have you're bothering to carry a backpack around, you probably don't want it to be just the armor. Obviously this is a lot more than just having a standard backpack with a panel slipped into the computer pouch that you only have on your back or that in an emergency we teach our kids this. Sometimes we talk about armored backpacks flipping it around to the front if I know that the bad guy is gonna be coming through the door.

This gives me that more tactical front and rear coverage again thinking about protecting other people moving around in an environment with an active shooter with a specific threat, taking care of that dignitary or responding to one of your fellow comrades in a law enforcement environment who's already taking fire or imminently going to be taking fire. Let me take this back off. And we'll take a look at, How I've set this bag up on the inside as well because again I think that's a big part of it. If you're gonna have a backpack, we need to make sure that it's doing more than just being an armored vest. If I just want an armored vest, buy a low profile armored vest, no problem.

So what do we have in here? Well, as you might imagine, one of the most important things we're gonna have is medical, and that's what I've decided to put into the center of the large pouch of this pack. So I've got one grab and go here and this has everything I'm gonna need for trauma and then I've got redundant pouches or redundant medical equipment here for trauma because if I'm doing this I'm not thinking about probably just protecting myself. This isn't going to the coffee shop with my armored backpack so I wanna be able to take care of more than just myself. I wanna be able to take care of multiple people and again this is just a starter for what we might have in here.

Another thing we might think about if we're at the level of needing to think about wearing front and rear body armor. Because we might want to think about being able to deploy something that is more capable than just the handgun that we're carrying. So we have a secondary tool and of course this is a foldable stock. I've got pouches in the front. Here I've got magazines ready to go.

Maybe I have extra light sources, things like that. There's a lot that we can do with this bulletproof backpack, the elite bulletproof backpack from Bodyguard Armored Systems. Maybe not something that you need to run out and buy as your second. Third defensive tool. It's part of your preparation plan, but it might be something, especially if you're in that private security armed profession, maybe low profile law enforcement environment, or if you're thinking about that go bag that does more than just carry stuff in a worst case scenario for your family defense.
