Lowa Innovo Mid Boot

Rob Pincus
Duration:   3  mins

PDN welcomes LOWA Boots as a sponsor of the 2026 PDN Training Tour. Rob Pincus has been wearing LOWA Boots for decades, and they’re the most comfortable boots he’s worn both in the wilderness and on the range.

For his many full days of firearms training coming up on the Tour, Rob wanted a rugged and durable boot but also a lightweight and flexible one. He chose the LOWA Innovo Mid because it can handle the varied terrain and conditions encountered during training classes – slippery surfaces, uneven surfaces, gravel, rocks, and the hard concrete of indoor ranges. Rob will give a detailed report at the end of the tour – let’s see how the Innovo boots hold up.

This is the Lowa Innovo MID hiking boot. Now, when Lowa came on as a sponsor for the twenty twenty-six Personal Events Network Training Tour, of course they said, "Take a look at the catalog. Let us know what you want." This is what I wanted. Now, if you go back to the early days of Personal Events Network, the mid-2000s, you're probably gonna find a lot of videos where I was wearing Lowa boots, some of the most comfortable boots I've worn both in the wilderness and in the range environment. And what I wanted was a very durable, rugged boot, but also a lightweight and flexible one.

And the Innovo MID is definitely the one that fits the bill. Now, they do have GORE-TEX versions of this. They have low-cut, almost sneaker-type versions of this. They have some, evolved, called the EVO versions, the EVO II versions of the Innovo. so you can take a look at all of those different options.

And then, of course, they have professional duty boots and a lot of other day hikers, some very, very rugged heavy-duty boots as well for alpine adventures. But what I wanted was something I was gonna be able to wear probably almost every day, something that was gonna work on the range. And when I work on the range, that could mean rain, snow, gravel, old steel cases piling up on the range, or maybe a nice indoor range with concrete floors that are not necessarily the most comfortable to stand on all day either. So I needed something rugged and comfortable, relatively lightweight. These boots come in at five hundred and forty-five grams.

What does that mean? It means about a little over nineteen ounces. So they're not the lightest, they're not a sneaker, but they're also not a heavy boot. Now, they do have a GORE-TEX version of this. I opted to go without the GORE-TEX version.

I wanted a little bit more breathability. it's a leather upper. It's a double-injected midsole. It's a very, very flexible boot. So to be as rugged as it really looks, when you take a look at the, the plastic as well as the rubber bottom that we've got here, very aggressive tread, very rugged.

they call this a self-cleaning tread pattern. So it's designed to work on, on slippery surfaces, as well as rugged surfaces, uneven surfaces, gravel, rock, things like that, as well as snow, wet concrete, things like that. and it's a self-cleaning. It's obviously not a very tight tread pattern. This is called Lowa's Terra Track.

This is their own special blend of a rubber sole. and again, it's got moisture-wicking material on the inside, so again, very breathable. most of the days during the training tour or during the summer, they're hot days outside or they're working days on the inside. Even when you have air conditioning sometimes on the range, it still gets pretty hot in there with a controlled environment. So I, again, I wanted something that was gonna be breathable, something that was gonna be lightweight, something that was gonna be very rugged.

Now, I've been wearing these for a couple of weeks. I've tried to keep them in good shape, obviously, for the video when we were gonna talk about them. But you can see they're already picking up some of the stains from that, orange dirt that we've got in Western North Carolina at my home property, a lot of the ranges that we're on. What I really am gonna be excited about is where are these gonna be at the end of the tour. So as we kick the tour off, I'm very excited to have these Lowa Innovo MID boots on.

I'm gonna still have them on six to eight months. We're gonna see what they look like, then we're gonna see how they held up, and I'll give you a long-term report. In the meantime, take a look at Lowa boots if you're looking for high quality, rugged, durable, comfortable, all the things you need in footwear, especially if professionally you stand on the ranges all day long demonstrating a lot of different shooting positions, moving around, the kind of things that I and the rest of the instructors do. I'm excited to have Lowa with us. Excited to have them back on my feet.

and I think that the Innovo MID is gonna be, a great long-term choice. We're gonna find out in the fall.
