PDN 2012 National Training Tour Update: Week 11
Rob PincusDescription
All right, first of defense network tour 2012, update number 11 I'm standing here overlooking the beautiful Columbia river in Oregon. That out there is Mount Hood. I'm getting close to Portland. When I get there, I'm gonna make a right head up in Washington state and get to my final stop on the training tour, the Firearms Academy of Seattle. Now I love this part of the country and being out here this year is especially significant because it ends the entire training tour.
The tour will end next week. I'll be finishing up my classes there at the Firearms Academy Seattle. Of course, we started in late March back on the East coast. The first picture we posted to kick off the tour was actually at the Personal Defense Network truck, right on the beach in Northern Florida on the Atlantic ocean. Our first classes were in Northern Georgia and we've come all the way across the country.
We've had personal defense network contributors teaching zigzagging all across the country. And Mike, Janich even made it up into Canada for one of his courses associated with the tour. And it's really been a great time. It has been an outstanding experience dealing with all the other instructors and of course all the students and hosts that have made this possible. Now, along the way, we've talked a lot about the training that's been going on during the tour.
We've talked about the courses that I've been running with courses that other instructors have been running all across the country. We've also talked to the students, we've talked to the host and we talked a lot about the venues in the different areas that we've been teaching. We've also talked a bit about our sponsors. We've talked about some of the equipment that they provide some of the gear that you may be interested in for your preparation for personal home or family defends. And some of the things that they've actually provided to the tour that we've used while we're out here on the training ranges and that we have in preparation for that use of force.
If we need to, to defend ourselves or others. We haven't talked too much about the details of Personal Defense Network. And as we get close to the end of the tour this is a very exciting time for the Personal Defense Network because we've just launched our premium membership site. Now, if you aren't familiar with what PDN offers online you need to go check out Personal Defense Network.com quickly. What you're going to find is a collection of articles and videos that are from leaders in the industry and specialists in their independent fields whether that's unarmed defense blade defense, or of course firearms and firearms defense and developing your shooting skill.
And it's very important to me as the managing editor of Personal Defense Network that all of our contributors are actually active teachers. They're active in the training industry. They own training companies, they conduct courses or they work in a training capacity inside of the law enforcement military, or private security field. It's important to me that they're not just writers. They're not just people who get on video and make videos about things they used to do or things that they've done only through other experiences under other instructors.
These guys are actually out teaching. They're actually out making a difference in or developing and evolving their teaching approach every day, every week, every month, actually out on the ranges in the classrooms, in the dojo's, on the mats where people are looking to become better prepared to defend themselves their families or their homes. So our contributor network is incredibly strong. And what we've done is we've joined together with those contributors and we have now set aside some exclusive premium content for our premium members. Now you can go to Personal Defense Network.com and take a look at a whole bunch of stuff without ever having to enter so much as an email address or agreeing to anything at all.
If you do join you're going to be put on our mailing list for free. You're going to get monthly updates with a newsletter. You're going to get a featured video. You're going to get a lot more information. You'll get some special offers from our sponsors and advertisers at the Personal Defense Network website.
But if you decide to join to become a premium member you're also going to have access to a few cool things. First, exclusive content. Over the last eight months, we've collected over a hundred specific video clips just for the use inside of our premium website. Now not all of them were up there yet. They're still being edited and processed.
And some of them have been taped very recently but we're going to be filtering through those and adding to those as time goes on. So in addition to the normal free updates and the free content that we put out across a lot of different channels on the internet under the Personal Defense Network banner this exclusive content will be available just for our premium members. We've also taken some of our existing content mixed it in with new content drawn from our DVD collection that we've been creating since 2006. And we've made specific online courses that fit specific topic areas. So let's say that you're, for example interested in home defense, we might pull four or five or six different video clips together from different times from different people from different DVD sets, put them together and say here's your fundamentals of home defense course.
And we give you one stop shopping for all of the information that you're going to need to get more educated in an area which is going to help you make better use of your time online training. And then of course better use of that information because it will all be presented in an organized fashion. And one of the coolest things that our premium members will get is access to full length DVDs. The first DVD that's available with the premium website is one that deals with shooting through intermediate barriers or what will happen if your bullets inside of your home leave your self defense tool and go through those walls or into the walls of your home. Now, everybody's always curious about this topic.
Whenever we put out a video clip, whenever we do that on a television segment where we're going to talk about a demonstration and shoot through a wall, everybody's always very interested in what different bullets do . Well there's over two hours of content already available on our premium members site on dealing with intermediate barriers, not just walls inside the home and not just a couple of rounds. We go through an extensive array of possible home defense rounds that you might have shotgun rifle as well as different types of pistol rounds. We fire them through the walls and you see exactly how they're going to behave. Now, of course, these examples are incredibly valuable.
If you're trying to decide what type of firearm or what type of ammunition to have at the ready inside of your home. And we also take a look at what happens when you shoot through glass which is always something that people are very interested in as well. Now, this content is available in DVD form. You can purchase a DVD from our training site that is actually dealing with intermediate barriers, or you can go to the Personal Defense Network.com site and sign up for an entire year, one year's annual subscription for less than the cost of that DVD. And all you need to do is go check out our Facebook page, get the discount code and you're going to save 30% on that annual fee.
You're going to find that the membership to Personal Defense Network's premium site is incredibly inexpensive and a great value. Even if you don't sign up take a look at that free information. I'm going to get back in the truck. I'm going to head North I'm going to make it to Firearms Academy, Seattle. I'm going to finish up this tour and I'm going to continue giving you some updates from that location next week.
Thanks for watching. Thanks for supporting Personal Defense Network and hope to see you on a range sometimes.
