Defensive shooting instructor Rob Pincus summarizes the similarities between defensive and competition shooting. Both disciplines pose the same questions to their shooters: What problem do you need to solve? How do you best solve it? Where can you gain the skills to solve it and how do you develop them?

Competition shooter Rob Leatham of Team Springfield explains how competition shooting developed by looking back at the early days of the FBI. When the FBI developed their training courses and programs, they wanted to have a judgment and a way of scoring improvement and whether the tactics, techniques, and equipment were improving. Their way of doing that was by scoring the targets and timing how long shooters took to make the shots.
