My name is Rob Pincus. I'm the Executive Director of Personal Defense Network and the owner of I.C.E. Training Company. I've provided training for over two decades to arm professionals, personal security professionals and people who are interested in defending themselves. Probably just like you.

Over that last two decades we've learned a lot about active shooter responses and we've thought more about spree killing than ever before probably in human history. The idea that people are trying to target would be victims in concentrated areas either because of their own deranged mental state, because of their hatred for society and people in general, or because of their political motives is something that only recently has really come on the average person's radar. And that's why this course is so important. I wanted to give you some idea of what to expect from this course and what we have coming up and what you're going to learn from it and be able to do afterwards. The first thing we're gonna talk about is the history of active shooter response and the study of some active shooters.

A lot of that material is gonna be in the supplemental downloads that accompany the video chapters that are part of this course of course, the heart of the course is going to be the conversation that I'll be sharing with you. And some of the other material that we've amassed over the last several years from some great experts in the field, as well as ones that have been presented in different formats like our Personal Defense Network, training DVDs and online for our subscribers and premium members, the information all together will help you understand the backdrop and the background for why this is so important. And probably understand a little bit more about why so many people in the media and in our everyday lives are talking about these relatively rare, but incredibly tragic events. The next thing we're gonna talk about of course, is your plan. What is the plan that you should have and how are you going to develop that plan to fit you?

The important steps in both our simple and advanced version of the active shooter response plan can take on a lot of different applications in your environment or the environment that you happen to be trapped in during this free killer event understanding the plan, the components and how the variables can affect the implementation of the plan from time to time are a big part of this course. It really is the heart of the information that we're going to be conveying. It's gonna be the part that you want to take the most notes on and probably the parts that you're going to be most interested in sharing with your family and coworkers. Now, if you carry a firearm for personal defense this next section of the course that deals with the use of defensive firearms during a spree killing is of course going to be not only interesting but incredibly vital. The ideas of personal defense with a firearm are obviously something that we talk about a lot in Personal Defense Network.

And it's something that we talked about a lot in the United States for a number of years in terms of self-defense training. But applying the concept of defensive shooting in a crowd in a dynamic environment where there may be multiple well-armed and well-trained and well-equipped attackers in an environment where you're actually trying to protect other people not just yourself and in an environment where your first priority is probably going to be to try to get you, and those you care about away but that you may be trapped in and forced to take other action is a completely different animal. Understanding the application of your defensive gun knowledge and developing your capabilities specifically so that they can be applied in a spree killing event is a completely different training approach. And it's gonna be really important that you take as much as you can from that section of this course, we're also gonna talk about interacting with law enforcement. You know, historically the main way people dealt with the active shooter situation was to hide and hope that the good guys were going to get there before the bad guys hurt them.

And that's that law enforcement response and law enforcement trains better faster and more appropriately every year to understand how they can stop spree killers and active shooters as quickly as possible. While it's important to understand that you may need to take care of yourself. It would also be silly not to assume that eventually the police officers are going to arrive when they show up, what are you gonna do? How are you going to interact with them? And what can you expect when they see you potentially with a gun or potentially taking leadership action to help others be safe?

Think about ahead of time, how you're gonna respond to law enforcement and getting some perspective on what they're gonna expect may help you to plan as realistically and appropriately as possible. We're also going to talk about medical training. Now this is not a medical class but having some basic medical knowledge and hopefully at least getting an introduction to the types of medical information and the medical equipment that you're gonna want to learn more about and possibly have available to you on your body, in your purse, in your backpack or staged in your workplace or vehicle before the spree killer event happens is a big focus of this class. The aftermath of the spree killing. Even if you don't get hurt or you don't have to stop the threat is going to involve medical care.

And the faster that medical care can reach people which of course means the more people there are in that immediate environment who can provide that kind of medical care. The more likely we are to save lives and have less tragedy. Once again, I'm really glad that you're taking this course seriously and taking this information in. Spree killers are incredibly rare. Active shooter events don't happen very often but when they happen, they are incredibly tragic.

The more people in our community that are prepared to respond appropriately, the more people in our community who are educated in how to get away or make it harder for the bad guy to get to them then the less effective the spree killers are going to be the less satisfied they're going to be. And the less likely the next guy is to look at that situation and say, you know what? I could fulfill myself doing that. I could achieve my political or evil agenda by doing that, the more prepared you are the better you are to help all of society be prepared. And that's an important part of this active shooter response course.
