The Advantages of a Laser Training Target

Here comes another important tip from the Personal Defense Network. Let's take a look at the Laserlyte Laser Trainer Target. This can be a great tool if you decide to get a Laserlyte Laser Trainer and want to work on some things besides just your presentation skills in your home at a very low cost. When you get the Laserlyte Laser Trainer at home and pop the box open what you're going to find is of course the Laserlyte Laser Trainer itself, an instruction card that tells you how to assemble it and use it, and batteries and an assembly tool. When you get the laser trainer at home, you're going to see that it's actually already open.

Now obviously you're going to need to install the batteries. Laserlyte thought ahead and just placed the screws in a bag on the back compartment of the actual Laser Trainer Target. You don't have to take the screws out, waste more time, you can get right to the training. You're going to open up this smaller bag. This is where you're going to find your batteries and your assembly tool.

The batteries as shown in this description here in the actual diagram and as is marked on the battery case are installed in opposing directions as you're probably used to when it comes to double A's in any electric device that uses multiple batteries. We'll go ahead and put them in as indicated on the diagram. We're going to open this bag, go ahead and get our screws out, attach the back plate, and then we'll see about the operations. Once all six screws are in place, at this point as indicated on our instruction sheet, we can use the large toggle switch to turn the Laser Target on. Now there are a couple of different things we can do with the Laser Target.

Obviously I've already got a Laser Trainer installed in this Glock. First and foremost I'm going to make sure that my Glock is indeed unloaded. I don't have a magazine, there's no round in the chamber, and my Laser Trainer has already been sighted-in to work with this firearm. I'm going to clean this area up a little bit. We're going to create some more space.

And we're going to see exactly how we can use the Laser Trainer Target to enhance our training when we don't have budget or opportunity to go to the range and use live ammunition. The instructions that come with your Laser Trainer Target will explain to you how you use all of the different target areas to get the target to actually display or not display your shots. As you can see, I've turned down the light in my training area so that the photo cells are going to have a better chance of actually reading this target. The normal bright lights that we use for video can interfere with this. In your home you're going to have to make sure that your light levels are adjusted properly.

At this point as you're going to see on your instruction card that comes with your Laser Trainer Target, the large area that you're going to use as your focus point isn't going to display your shot immediately after you shoot. So if I drive the firearm out, touch and press, pull the firearm back in. With this particular firearm I need to simulate a tap rack. I had a click. The trigger does not reset.

I simulate that. Now I'm going to take a much more precise shot into the small circle in the lower left and that's going to actually display my shot. As you can see I was pretty close to center. I'm again going to reset the firearm. Now notice whenever I rack I also tap.

I want to build that rep. I want to build that rut in the road for my brain. It's just a good habit to get into. Now I'm going to fire on the smaller target on the right hand side of the bottom of the target and that's going to reset my large target area. At this point I can continue my training.

Of course if I want to, I can also take multiple shots into the target area and then hit the display and see where both of those shots went. As we can see those shots are also close to center.
