Learn more about the Pitbull Tactical Universal Mag Carrier. Due to its innovative design, it holds several different kinds of handgun magazines.

Universal Mag Carrier

If you carry your spare magazines in a carrier and are used to carrying more than one type of handgun, especially those with different size magazines, you probably need more than one magazine carrier, especially when out on the range doing handgun training and practice.

The Pitbull Tactical Universal Mag Carrier is a truly universal magazine carrier. It works inside the waistband or outside the waistband and is ambidextrous. How it works is it adjusts to allow it to fit different thicknesses of magazines.

Pitbull Tactical says it works with any 9mm or .40 S&W single- or double-stack magazine, which includes .380 magazines and .357 SIG magazines. It also holds all single-stack .45s and most double-stack .45s.

Testing

We try three different 9mm magazines in the Pitbull Universal Mag Carrier: the very thin Springfield XD-S magazine; the medium-width Glock 48 mag, which expands the magazine carrier a bit; and finally a traditional double-stack Glock magazine, which creates more expansion but still fits very snugly.

As with all self-defense tools, we are concerned with the durability of the magazine carrier. How long will it last? The expanding/contracting part that holds the two pieces of the carrier together is a silicone flex band. Will it wear out in the long term? Time will tell.

But for now, we can say that the product works well as advertised and is comfortable both inside the waistband and outside the waistband. It is injection molded, with no screws, and is ready to go right out of the box. Handgun training instructors will find it useful to keep on hand in the event a student needs a magazine carrier because this one carrier fits so many magazines.
